Thank you for joining us in Cleveland

Hello Workers United family! We just wrapped our convention in Cleveland, Ohio, and if you were there, you know it was a wild success. Over 400 members representing 13 joint boards attended from across the United States and Canada. We took care of business, passed pivotal resolutions, and heard from amazing speakers, including Bishop William Barber II and our very own international president, Lynne Fox.

We had a lot of fun, too. We enjoyed some amazing food and drink catered by our union family members at the Hyatt Regency and the Rocket Arena. And in the evenings, we took in a Cleveland Cavaliers game against the San Antonio Spurs while the hockey fans among us saw the Monsters face off against the Texas Stars.

This was our first convention in four years and our first in-person convention in eight. That’s why it was so special to come together and see all that we have accomplished as organizers and as members of the labor movement. Taking the time to celebrate our many successes, from organizing new industries to fighting the abuses of the international garment industry, was uplifting and inspiring.

The theme of our convention was Defining Our Future, and after coming together to pass resolutions to buy union, stand against hostilities to our union family in Canada, and take on ambitious new organizing goals here and around the world, we now have our assignments. We know what we need to do, and we’re more fired up and ready than ever before.

Thank you to each and every one of you who made the trek to Cleveland. Thank you also to our international president, Lynne Fox, SEIU President April Verrett, AFL-CIO President Liz Shuler, Bishop William Barber II, the Cleveland Cavaliers and the staff of Rocket Arena, and to all of our union brothers and sisters at the Hyatt Regency, Westin, and Hotel Indigo.

More convention updates and recaps to follow!
