Employees at two more Seattle Starbucks locations hope to unionize, expanding the nationwide union push in the coffee giant’s hometown.

Workers at a Starbucks in Santa Cruz filed a union petition with the National Labor Relations Board, the first California store to join a growing national push to organize baristas and shift supervisors at the coffee giant.

Employees of the Starbucks at 1209 N. Charles St., in Midtown-Belvedere, announced their plans to organize last week. In a letter signed by 15 workers and shared on Twitter Jan. 15, they wrote that they "make Starbucks products for less than living wages and receive none of the profit, all the while being offered benefits that in no way equal our efforts."

Employees at Starbucks locations in Cleveland Circle and Lower Allston began steps to form a union, joining two other Boston-area locations in a growing labor movement of cafe workers across the Greater Boston area.

Janessa Voyce, a first-year student at University of Oregon, didn’t expect to get involved with a union drive when she started working at the Starbucks at 29th and Willamette in Eugene.

Employees at a Memphis Starbucks are looking to unionize. They say their campaign will not only help employees, but customers as well.
