Movement Gyms is again facing federal charges before the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) as attorneys representing unionized workers today filed a series of new Unfair Labor Practice (ULP) charges against the company. The new ULPs include a range of allegations of anti-union practices, including charges that the company threatened and interrogated workers in Maryland, made unlawful changes to working conditions and withheld information in New York, and engaged in a nationwide pattern of bad-faith bargaining in ongoing contract negotiations at the company’s unionized gyms.

We just wrapped our convention in Cleveland, Ohio, and if you were there, you know it was a wild success. Over 400 members representing 13 joint boards attended from across the United States and Canada. We took care of business, passed pivotal resolutions, and heard from amazing speakers, including Bishop William Barber II and our very own international president, Lynne Fox.

In the truest form of trade union solidarity, Workers United and the Communications Workers of America (CWA), together with the organizing committee of Fruit Stand Workers United (FSWU) have agreed that CWA will provide support to FSWU’s union organizing efforts at Apple’s Grand Central Station store in New York City.

Workers United, the union supporting Starbucks workers across the country as they organize, is announcing our intention to establish a Strike and Defense Fund with initial dedicated funding of $1 million for the Starbucks Workers United campaign.

The union backing organizing efforts at Starbucks is creating a $1 million fund to cover lost pay for baristas who go on strike, giving workers more firepower in their fight to unionize.
